A while back, we gave you all a teaser of the upcoming BA-350 – a radical interpretation of an F-350 merging with a Raptor. It was the brainchild of Doug Paddock, owner and founder of DEFCO Trucks in Denver, Colorado.
Recently, the truck was completed in full. With its splendid red paint, bulging fenders, and meaty Continental tires, it made waves on social media, but that was small beans compared to its crazy stunt.
“It was New Year’s, and I had a friend with a local track that we could do the stunt at,” said Doug. “The jump was short and lippy, and I didn’t have enough spring rate in the front, nor enough weight in the back. I hit that ramp at 70 miles per hour!”
Before he knew it, Doug and the BA-350 were airborne. Having expected to only launch about 40 feet, he could only guess as to how far and high he actually went. “My best guess is between 90 to 110 feet long, and 15 feet high,” he said.
In the above video, we see that the truck did not come out unscathed, and for that, Doug received more than his fair share of online shellacking. “Everyone was saying, ‘Oh, he got a face full of airbag’ or ‘He wadded it,’ but no way,” said Doug. “The truck still drove straight after that jump!”
The Advanced Fiberglass fenders were damaged slightly, and could still re-mount to the truck. Other than these and a damaged intercooler, the truck was A-OK. Take that, haters!
To prove his point, Doug shared all of the damage that occurred. All that got hurt were the Advanced Fiberglass fenders, which failed at the factory mounting points (but were still in perfect shape otherwise, and could be remounted to the truck), and the intercooler, which started leaking from getting punched by the radiator.
“I had no airbag deployment, no inertia switch deployment, no chipped paint on the frame,” said Doug. “I was stunned. We got it back to the shop and put it in the alignment center. It was 36/1000 of an inch off of the alignment we did two weeks prior. It was amazing.”

Doug is bringing the BA-350 to California to do some more testing and tuning. There’s a good chance we’ll see it in person soon, so stay tuned!
But Doug hasn’t had enough. He’s aching for another shot at hucking the BA-350, and plans to do it right this time. What’s more, he’ll soon be in California to test out the truck in Barstow, where he can let loose in sand and dirt.
In the meantime, though, he’s glad to get attention, whether good or bad. “My daughter’s clued in to all of the social media,” he said. “She told me the teaser clip got shared over 30,000 times. I don’t care about the haters, and I love our fans, and I can’t wait to do the jump right next time.”
If the stars align, we’ll be out there to see Doug and the BA-350 go blast through the desert. In the meantime, watch the video above (specifically 0:23-30 at half-speed!) until you’ve had enough.
