If you’ve cruised through YouTube and seen as many automotive videos as we have, then you’ve come across the careless crazies over at Hoonigan. The guys that run that channel have been the driving force behind such successful viral videos as the Gymkhana series with Ken Block, and spawned the motto that speaks to all lovers of motorized madness: “Just Ain’t Care.”
We’re glad to see one guy out there is representing the JAC lifestyle with his diesel truck, and someone from 1320Video shot the footage to prove it. The truck was out at an event in St. Louis, Missouri called Street Car Takeover, showing everyone what the power of diesel could produce in the right (or wrong, depending on your viewpoint) hands. Over the course of two runs, this Bowtie proves its mettle and stuns the crowd repeatedly.
Clouds of smoke and shredded rubber are all that remain from the Duramax's first pass.
Starting at 0:07, the action kicks into high gear with the pickup screaming out into the night. The first pass ends at 40 seconds, smoke billowing everywhere as the videographer steps in to interview the driver. Little does he know, the truck is actually on fire.
The fire is put out and away rolls the truck, strands of fiber and cable splayed out on the rear tires. All that remains of this epic showing is a mountain of spent rubber, still smoldering and with the consistency of fine powder. Needless to say, the Duramax has made quite the first impression.
The second burnout is shot during the daytime, and continues for what feels like an eternity despite lasting 30 seconds. So raw and intense is this burnout that, as the cameraman notices, the tires are still spinning slickly on the asphalt well after the driver let go of the throttle. If we had to describe the video in one word, that word would be “intense!”
