Driving a truck is empowering. By empowering I’m not talking about feeling entitled to anything, but just having a sense that you can help or you can do it. Trucks are designed to be able to do almost anything, go anywhere and haul almost anything. We have all seen it from time to time, a video of someone doing something amazing. A few years ago Toyota (I know, not a diesel…) did an ad campaign where they pulled the NASA Space shuttle, Ford, GM and Ram have tons of commercials showing their trucks hauling heavy loads. Our neighbors and friends regularly overload their trucks and just move anything they want.
On the other end, we see guys lifting their trucks and taking huge jumps with them. Trying to defy the laws of gravity and become skyward bound. While these are very cool, what many of us are more apt to do than any other type of driver on the road, is help someone who needs it.
With the recent weather we have had this year, there are tons of people needing help. Next time you drive by someone who is broken down, stuck in the mud, or whatever, check to see who is helping them. Odds are, it is someone in a truck.
Recently, we came across a video on YouTube of a guy in his Ford F-450 that helped get a New Orleans Fire Truck out of the median after swerving to avoid a downed power line during a hurricane. When most people were ducking for cover in the 40+ mph wind and ran, these guys were here to help. Our hats are off to those to take the time, to help their fellow man. God Bless America!
