We often feature some pretty over the top builds, but sometimes, we see trucks that just “work.” When we saw William Masannat’s 2019 Ford Super Duty nicknamed Rackman, at a local show in Las Vegas, we thought it was clean, yet practical build. After talking to him we found out it was a purpose-built, daily driven vehicle “work” truck. William owns Total Storage Solutions, based in Las Vegas, Nevada, but also utilizes the Ford to pull work trailers and hauling toys

“Growing up in Southern California, I remember vividly going to the LA Auto show every year with my dad,” Masannat said. “Watching shows like Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazard, and Smokey and the Bandit helped grow my passion for cars and trucks. Growing up, my room was always filled with automotive posters and magazines. Since I was 16 years old, I did at least some kind of modification to every single vehicle I owned.”

Before moving to Las Vegas, William worked at Galpin Ford in North Hills, California, one of the premier Ford dealerships in the Country. During his seven-year tenure at Galpin Ford, William was introduced to the world of customized vehicles and of course, the SEMA Show.

One of the perks of living in Las Vegas is that the annual SEMA Show is right in your backyard, this is the play to be for any automotive enthusiast. William purchased his 2019 Ford F-250 Platinum edition in August of 2019, just after he sold his highly customized 2015 Ford 1/2 ton. The build developed in his mind soon after the purchase, and soon, parts were on order.

“I have always liked the Magnetic Grey exterior colors Ford offered so I was able to get paint samples prior to the purchase,” Masannat explained. “I knew on this build, I wanted to have more of a contrast with the color of accessories I was going to add.”

Orange was Williams favorite color, and finding the proper tone was the next step. Then, miraculously, the color came to him. Ford came out with the Twister Orange option for the 2020 GT500, and William knew that’s what he wanted. Let’s take a look at William’s current setup.

Standing Out From The Crowd

Since this is William’s “daily,” he didn’t want wheels and tires that were too big. He elected to go with a set of 20×10 Grid GF20 wheels with billet center caps. The tires of choice were a set of BF Goodrich 37×13.50R20 mud terrains. The fit, finish, and ride quality were what was most important to William.

Often times when purchasing a new-year model vehicle, aftermarket parts do not become readily available. Since the platform didn’t change much, William was able to add a few goodies to enhance performance and reliability. He installed a factory-backed Roush Performance exhaust, a K&N cold air intake and a Bully Dog BDX Tuner.

William’s F-250 is still a daily driven/work truck. He needed an upgrade in the suspension department, just nothing too wild. He went with a mild six-inch Pro Comp Stage 2 lift with MX6 reservoir shocks and dual steering stabilizers. Other suspension upgrades include Kaotic Concepts traction bars, rear Air Lift airbags with a Firestone wireless controller and a painted G2 rear differential cover. William has some future plans for his suspension as more parts become more readily available. In the immediate future he will be adding Fox full adjustable shocks and bigger Wilwood disc brakes.

Paint matching has become a subtly way to custom parts and pieces all while keeping a classy and elegant look to the vehicle. William paint matched the mirror caps, door handles, tailgate handle, front vents, headlights, grille and emblems. Other modifications include smoked taillights, Snug Top bed cover, bed rug liner, tow hooks, and Bushwacker fender flares. For lighting, he added Rigid rock lights and flush-mounted rear bumper lights. Future light additions include grille/hood lights.

We love the Platinum interiors introduced by Ford. William added a few nice touches to the cockpit of his Super Duty, these include, custom painted dash, door, and center console pieces. He added US Speedo white-faced gauges with LED lighting and an orange cluster/needles. Other additions include carbon fiber door trim, center console storage bin door and shifter handle seen on the Ford Raptors.

The factory audio set up already sounded pretty good, but not good enough for William. While he kept the factory eight-inch touchscreen display, he replaced all the other components. The new additions include, Focal three-way component front speakers and two-way speakers in the rear with custom made pillar and door sails.

Underneath the rear seat includes a custom lighted sub box that houses two head pounding JL Audio 12-inch subwoofers. Also nestled behind the rear seat include Focal crossovers, and an MTI acoustics custom amp rack that houses two JL Audio amplifiers.

The Future

Masannat vows to have a build featured at the SEMA Show, but for now, there’s still work to be done on the “daily.” His future upgrades include an SB cold air intake, and a carbon fiber steering wheel. He tells us, there may be more to come or build something solely for the SEMA Show. William left us with one final quote. Let’s just say no build is really ever “finished.”
