Freightliners are not generally seen flying through the air, unless something has gone terribly wrong. Well there might be one exception, if the Freightliner is owned by the Kneival family! So take a stuntman prepped semi-truck, build a dirt ramp down main street USA or in this case Butte Montana, a daredevil TV personality, and you’re in business!
Gregg Godfrey more commonly known as the executive Producer of MTV’s “Nitro Circus” is no stranger to horsepower miss-appropriations. Through his personal life and tv career Godfrey has raced a multitude of vehicles, and previously set the Guinness Book of World Records distance for a semi jump.
Back for another try, seven years since he established the original record of 50 feet 6 inches back in 2008, Godfrey lined up the Kneivals’ diesel rig and put the pedal to the load long-hauler.
On July 25th at the Evel Kneival Days event, Godfrey sat in the truck blaring the air horn prepared to fly into the records.
The truck clears the dirt lip of the jump and glides a smooth arc to the landing ramp, covering a distance of 160 feet! Coming back to the earth after flying 40 feet in the air, it’s no surprise there are a few bounces.
Ever the showman Godfrey rolls down the ramp and pitches the rig sideways into a power-slide finally coming to a stop facing the ramp over which he just made a record breaking leap.

Finishing with style, Godfrey slides the semi truck to a photo worthy view of his record breaking leap of 160 ft!
