JH Diesel is the YouTube channel that lives on diesel-powered chaos and has been detailing its fun-loving “Mega Mud Truck 2.0” (aka the OG Mega Mud Truck) F-350 build. But before the high-end updates, they first explained why mud-slinging doesn’t have to break the bank.

In a previous video, with a budget of $10,000, they took on a budget-friendly mud truck build. They then transformed a used 2006 Ford F-250 into a surprisingly capable off-roader.

They’re showing that with 38-inch tires, a welded rear differential for added grip, and a custom hood stack, you can really hit the mud using some creativity, imagination, and elbow grease.

Now, they’re back and focusing on the Mega Mud Truck 2.0. This time it’s about maximizing performance. In this video, they will be dealing with one of the most critical parts of any diesel rig, which is the fuel system.

“We didn’t want to deal with a tank hanging underneath,” they explain, speaking of their decision to ditch the factory fuel tank. This time, they have opted for a 45-gallon aluminum tank mounted inside the truck bed. This location keeps it safe while also maintaining the appearance of the lifted truck, which is something they care about deeply – especially since they went to some trouble to have the frame powder-coated.

But they didn’t stop there. To prevent fuel starvation during those intense mud-bogging moments, they added a custom-fabricated sump to the bottom of the tank.

“This should hold plenty of fuel if we ever get into a weird position,” they emphasize, ensuring a constant fuel supply even when the truck is at extreme angles.

And what is a high-performance fuel system without a powerful pump? JH Diesel selected a FASS Titanium Series fuel pump that can deliver a whopping 220 gallons per hour. “Keeps all the air out of fuel, these pumps are really good,” they said, noting reliable fuel delivery is paramount when modifying an engine.
