ProMaxx Performance Products has established itself in the marketplace as a manufacturer of affordable aluminum cylinder heads that perform better than the price might suggest. However, the folks there aren’t content to have that reputation for just a few applications.

The company has expanded on its support list for their all-aluminum diesel cylinder heads, and now, the 6.0-liter Power Stroke has a fully-dressed, O-ringed cylinder head ready for work. I stopped in at their booth at the 2021 SEMA show to see the new DX heads for myself. “DX Diesel Xtreme is our newest head on the market. It is taking the diesel market to places it has never been before,” says ProMaxx owner, Jason Collins. “An aluminum version of what has always been cast iron is now lighter and stronger, and has been tested in the real world with great results.”

Many weak areas of these cylinder heads have been addressed and strengthened, many power and flow improvements have been made, and you can expect improvements right out of the box. How do they come, you ask? You have plenty of options. You can order a set of bare heads, fully dressed, bare with O-rings, or dressed with O-rings.

On both the intake and exhaust sides, the flow has been increased by 25-percent. The multi-angle valve job as well as the hardened seats and guides make this set of heads a very tough part of a Power Stroke engine. Other features include solid behind-injector cups, a 42-pound weight reduction compared to stock, and ultra-smooth 356 T-6 aluminum material that gets machined right here in the USA.

For just a bare head, you’re looking at $1,225 each. That same head with O-rings prices out at $1,411. For a fully loaded head without O-rings, $1,605. Once you add in the O-rings, $1,719 each. When you look at what new stock heads cost versus this, that price is extremely affordable, in my opinion.
