Ultimate Callout Challenge: Drivers Three And Four Announced

Driver #3: Mike Graves

Last year was the first time for Mike Graves to hit the stage at the Ultimate Callout Challenge. As an unknown to the challenge, Graves made a statement at every stop in the three-day event. But with the lack of horsepower and torque on the dyno, it cut him short in the standings.

Mike Graves and his Hollyrock Customs team shocked the world and finished in 7th place overall with a heavy full bodied crew cab GMC. Unfortunately for Mike, the failing rear suspension part during the sled pulling competition on Day 3, limited him to a 10th place finish for the day. Team Hollyrock are improving this truck and plan on delivering an even bigger blow to the competition this year.

What will this GMC bring to the table next year? 1,400 horsepower is plenty, but not enough. We have a feeling team Hollyrock has something brewing.

The Maryland based team made the expedition to Indianapolis in 2017 as an underdog, but showed everyone they mean business. After following some impressive elapsed times, Grave’s GMC turned in a 9.555-second 1/4-mile pass down the famous Indianapolis drag strip at 149.50 mph. That sent the team up the ladder and positioned him at 4th overall for the day.

Onto the rollers, 1,400 horsepower and over 1,800 lb-ft of torque were his finishing numbers. While impressive, it was no match for the higher powered trucks in attendance. At the end of the track, it was onto the third day of competition. As stated above the truck experienced a catastrophic failure. Even though they encountered a break, with enough momentum, the truck still pulled 275 feet.

This pull was looking promising until…

Supported by Limitless Diesel, HSP Diesel, and SunCoast, Mike Graves and Hollyrock Customs make a push to 2018 and plan on improving their rookie season. What is next for Hollyrock? What are they bringing to the table? We will have to wait and see!

Driver #4: Donavan Harris

Freighting from north of the states, Canada native Donavan Harris, a two-time UCC competitor, that finished in fourth place overall in both 2016 and 2017 is making his way back to Indianapolis in 2018.

Beginning his diesel drag racing journey in 2009, Donavan has placed on the podium at events from all over North America including five consecutive Canadian Pro Street Championships, and a World Championship at the 2010 NHRDA World Finals are just a few things to add to his resume. His 2008 regular cab, 4WD Dodge Ram has gone on a diet plan to shed weight to improve elapsed times which has shown, with his 2017 pass of a 9.52 at 143.51 mph.

Although a purpose built drag truck, Harris’s best event finish last year was the sled pull coming in 4th place with a 312.11-foot pull. Unfortunately, he finished 10th in the dyno competition even with 1,625 horsepower and 2,182 lb-ft of torque.

To make it to the top on the so serious dyno competition, it’s going to take more than 3,000-horsepower to be in the running. Now that Harris has dipped his feet into the UCC podium life, he’s determined to make big changes this winter break to ensure he’ll be at the top. Donavan, with the help and support of his partners and sponsors, look to come to Indianapolis and continue to build on their current success and move up in the overall standings this coming year.

Putting that 1,600-horsepower to work during Day 3 of the sled pulling competition.
